Rules

The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.  NCESA documents Part V (Scantling Rules) will apply and are available on the class web site.  According to Class Scantling Rules every E-Scow entered in the regatta must have a current annual Boat Sticker attached to the transom.


Eligibility

The Regatta is open to all yachts which meet the rules of NCESA, whose skipper is an Active Owner or Regular Member of NCESA and whose sails and equipment comply with the Scantlings and By-laws of NCESA. The ISAF Sailor Classification Code will not apply.

 

Equipment

Use of Floatation Panels will be at the discretion of the Regatta Chairman and the Race Committee PRO based on each day’s forecast. All safety equipment, as required by the NCESA class rules, shall be on board while racing. Anchor and line is not required to be carried.

 

Race Format (All times are Eastern Daylight Savings)

 

One race will constitute the regatta.  There will be up to six races sailed, but the Race Committee may run fewer races at its discretion.  On the final day of the regatta, the final race will not be started after 12:00pm.  Racing will be windward-leeward courses with the option of a downwind finish.

 

There will two fleets, Gold and Silver, which will sail as a single fleet.  Entry in either fleet is by competitor’s choice.

 

Scoring

The Low Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A will apply.  There are no throw outs.

Awards

Trophies will be awarded to top five (5) Gold Fleet Skippers & crew and top three (3) silver fleet skippers and crew.

 

Entry

Entry fee of $140 includes racing, trophies, lunch (Sat & Sun), beverages all weekend (including alcoholic beverages),

and breakfast (Sat& Sun).   Saturday evening dinner available for purchase at registration.

 

We would appreciate sign up in advance on WYC website.  Payment to be made via credit card, check or cash at event.

 

Radio

VHF Radio will be used by the RC to communicate with competitors, on and off the water. Additional instructions regarding radio communication will be included in the SI’s.          

 

Contacts & Lodging

Our goal will be to provide local housing at our members’ homes for all crew.   Accommodations will be provided on a first come first serve basis.    If desired, there are two hotels near the WYC – Oakwood Inn and Brooke Pointe Inn.   Please contact regatta chairperson Larry Palmer for housing information at 317-691-7900 or lpalmer@lauth.net

The Wawasee Yacht Club, Race Committee, Protest Committee, sponsors, volunteers, or any other affiliated organization or official accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury, death or inconvenience incurred, in conjunction with the regatta, however caused.  By participating in this event, each competitor, or in the case of minors, each competitor’s parent or guardian, agrees to release the Regatta Organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
