Eastern Class E Scow Association
2009 Championship
Organizing Authority: Bay Head and Mantoloking Yacht Clubs

Location and Date:

The Eastern Class E-scow Association Championship will take place from Monday August 3, 2009 through and including Wednesday August 5, 2009 at the Mantoloking Yacht Club located at Bay and Downer Avenues Mantoloking, New Jersey, 08738.

Rules:

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and as modified by the National E-Scow Association (ECESA).

There are 6 races scheduled. If 6 races are sailed, each boat’s series score shall be the total of her race scored excluding her worst score. This changes RRS A2.

Required Safety Equipment:

1.                  Coast Guard Approved Throwable Flotation device

Coast Guard Approved Personal Flotation device for each member of the crew.
3.
                 
Paddle
4.
                 
Anchor with 28 feet of line.

4:00 pm Practice Race.  Weather permitting.
6:00 pm Barbeque. Hosted by Mantoloking Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program.

Wednesday August 5, 2009

Awards ceremony ASAP after final race

Number of Races:

Six (6) races are scheduled. The completion of three (3) races constitutes a Regatta. On August 5, 2009 no races will be started 3:30 pm. If six races are sailed, each boat series score shall be the total of her race excluding her worst. This changes RRS A2.

Scoring: RRS A4 low point system

Awards:

Top 7 Skippers, Top 5 Crews, Top Women Skipper or (Crew) if no woman skipper. Top Rookie and Top Master.
Master is a skipper whose age is 63 or one day higher than MA 10.

Fees:

All competitors must be members of the NCESA and need to join before the regatta. Entry fees will be accessed and will cover the running the Regatta, continental.

Registration and Procedure:

Registration can be accomplished electronically at Regatta Networks. A registration fee of $250.00 must be received on or before July 31, 2009.   Current NCESA Membership, Skipper and Crew, is a must.  All contestants must be members of US Sailing.  Late Registration may be available. A late registration fee of $50.00 will be assessed.

Measurement:

Measurement shall take place at Mantoloking Yacht Club from 2:00 – 6:00pm on Sunday August 2, 2009. Boats not having a weight sticker or a lead seal shall are not eligible to compete and will have to be weighed. Sail Serial numbers to be used for the regatta will be declared and recorded. Spot checks will take place each day at the hoist. Bow Spirit lengths will be measured and will also be monitored throughout the Regatta by spot checks at hoist.

Lodging:

Bay Head and Mantoloking Yacht Clubs will attempt to locate housing on a first come first service basis. No guarantees but we will try our best to accommodate everyone. Local Housing is in short supply and contestants are urged to find accommodations on their own. Attached is a listing of local hotels/motels and Bed and Breakfast. Meals:

Meals, for the Monday and Tuesday night social events will need to be ordered in advance at Registration or payable at Late Registration.

Continental Breakfast:
Will be provided at the Mantoloking Yacht Club each morning. In will include coffee, bagels and fruit.

Lunches:
Build your own lunch service will be available Monday through Wednesday the cost if which is included in your registration fee.

Sunday Barbeque
: This is hosted by the Mantoloking Junior Sailing Program, pay as you go.

Monday Night Dinner:
Cocktail Party and Dinner at  Mantoloking Yacht Club is being sponsored by the Bilgeboarders. The fee will be $35 per person. Tickets will be available at both Registration and Late Registration. A ticket will be provided for dinner and open bar.

Tuesday Night Banquet Dinner Dance: Tickets will be available through Registration and at Late Registration. Ticket prices include two drink tickets, dinner and music. After dinner you will be entertained by one of the New Jersey Shore’s finest bands. Dinner will have a Jersey Shore theme to match the extraordinary performance that will follow. Tickets are priced at $52 per person.
Dinner and a limited number of  concert/dance only tickets will be available to members of MYC and BHYC.  Concert/dance only tickets at a cost of $25 per person.

Regatta Wear:
Coral Reef Sailing Apparel will be on hand at the Mantoloking Yacht Club with Regatta specific and other sailing apparel items. Look for the E Scow Easterns new design and logo on the web site and order ahead to insure pick up at registration.
