Dateline July 26, 2009 Lake Keuka, New York.  The 2009 New York State E Scow Championship was held over four days in two venues over a wide range of conditions from 0 to 20 mph.  A total of 9 races were sailed including 13 teams.  The fleet in each location numbered 10.  June 27 and 28 four races were held at Chautauqua.  July 25 and 26 five races were held at Keuka.  Six teams competed in both legs including CH-1 Creighton, CH-5 Richard Turner, CH-6 Rick Turner, KU-18 Andersen KU-12 Hudson and KU-9 Cole.  The Rick Turner team took the Chautauqua leg, with Bob Cole and team second and the Dave Barger team in third.  George Welch Jr.’s KU-1 team took the Keuka leg, followed by Bob Cole and team second and the Rick Turner team third. In the end, two points separated many times past NYS Champ Rick Turner and team, and the KU-9 team of Treacy, Penwarden, McKee and Cole, NYS Champs for the first time.
